Background on the Gass Family

The record of Gass family vanishes from the Swiss records after 1651 and it appears they migrated to Alsace, living for a short time at Fršschweiler, and later at Uttenhoffen.

Unlike some Swiss families, the Gasses did not retain their allegiance to the Reformed Church after coming to Alsace.

Ulrich (Eva's great grandfather) was referred to as "the old Schweitzer at Uttenhoffen."
