In the early 1800's in the area of Virginia now known as West Virginia there lived a family whose father had been a Revolutionary War soldier. On Christmas Day 1815 his son, 23 year old Rev. Peter Lough, was married to 15 year old Prudence Gibson.
Twenty-two years later in 1837 Prudence and Peter moved along with her parents to Edwards County, Illinois. With them they brought their 13 year old daughter, Charity Temperance Lough, the fourth of their fifteen children.
Prudence and Peter are buried in the Wesley Cemetery near Passport in Clay County, Illinois, about 40 miles northwest of Bone Gap.
