Life Synopsis of David Dempsey Boyd

Some notes on the life of David Dempsey Boyd -

He worked at the old Brosier Stave Mill, but it burned down.

He moved to Palatka and worked for Jim Johnson at the general store.

He started farming for himself on a rented farm near the Black Cemetery.

He moved to the Brazel community and bought a farm of his own in 1928.

He was road overseer for the [Brown?] township.

He, also, worked for Leem Schrivener at the Grist Mill during this time.

He moved to Success around 1937 and worked for Chess Gallager at the Cotton Gin. He and Paul Moore were sent to run a cotton gin in Brownsville, Texas, during the season there. While there he bought a tablecloth and a cake platter as gifts for his daughters Novell and Dathel.

About this same time Chess Gallager started a Stave Mill located just behind (toward the railroad) the Boyd house in downtown Success, Arkansas.

He suffered a stroke while working on a motor at the Success Cotton Gin in the late 1950's (before 1958).
