The information presented here on the Family Then and Now website has been gathered over a period of more than 40 years. Informal interviews were conducted in person and via letters with my Attebery and Baxter Grandparents while I was still a young history major in college for a paper I was writing for a history class. My sister gathered some of the information presented here from our grandparents and parents covering parts of the Attebery, Baxter, Adams, and Hocking family lines. And, of course, there have been many discussions regarding family connections with my parents over the years with files full of notes on all sorts of different types of paper that happened to be close at hand at the moment.

One large block of information regarding my wife's Moore family ancestors was provided several years ago by her second cousin, Daniel Moore, a long time serious genealogist. A large block of Boyd and Brown family information came from members of that family who meet at family reunions and was compliled by Wanda DeCelis Moutrie about 15 years ago. And I was priviledged to be able to go through what I then knew with my mother-in-law at that time before she was no longer able to recall such things.

Another large block of information regarding my more distant ancestors on the Baxter side of the family came to me through my uncle Carney Baxter, Orma Dale Baxter (one of my father's cousins), and a cousin of mine, Anna Rae Blaylock Mayo, another avid serious genealogist.

Contacts I have made with other family historians through the Internet over the last few years have allowed me to find linkages between my earlier known, more recent ancestors with the earliest Nading family ancestors right here in my "adopted" home of North Carolina (that has turned out to be the area of many of our historical family roots). And, of course, in recent years the many genealogical resources now available on the Internet have allowed me to greatly expand my knowledge base of our ancestors.

While my own genealogical work does not attempt to rise to the documentary standards of many of those listed above, I have focused my efforts on making this information both easily accessable and relatable to our current lives.
